Found in the resort community of Put in Bay, Ohio, the Getaway Inn at Cooper's Woods is centrally located in a quiet area of the Village. It is just two short blocks from the main street of PIB. The caves, wineries, family fun center and churches are also within a 10 minute walk from the b&b.

The original log cabin house was built in 1830 and is thought to be the oldest building on the island.  In 1998, the house was entirely refurbished along with the addition being added to create the Inn.  During the 1998 construction, trees that were needed to be removed were milled on site and the wood was used in various areas of the lodge. In 2012 the inn went through another transformation adding a suite and bedroom in the original structure of the inn.  An original hand hewn log wall is still visible in the new Northern Woods Suite, giving guests a glimpse into history.

The fully air-conditioned house has five comfortable rooms and three suites available for guests. To view pictures of the rooms/suites and read a detailed description visit our online reservation link at the top of the page.  Each room/suite has character and unique charm to fit your travel needs.  Our guest rooms accomodate two people.  The suites can accommodate four to five people and are a great cost effective way for a close knit group of friends or a family to enjoy the island. Whether you are on the island for a romantic getaway, weekend jaunt, family reunion, birding, attending meetings or ice fishing, one or more of our rooms or suites should fit your needs.

Breakfast is served daily in the great room from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM.   There is a common refrigerator and microwave located in the sun room for you to store your own beverages and snacks.

Pack your towel, swim shoes and enjoy time sunning and swimming in Lake Erie or at a local pool. There are two public beaches on the island. One is in the village next to Perry's International Peace Memorial and Monument. The other is a pebble-rock beach at South Bass Island State Park. You can also enjoy taking a dip in a pool if that is what you prefer.  Many of the downtown hotels kindly permit the Getaway Inn guests to enjoy the use of their pools.

It is easy to take an excursion to another Lake Erie island from Put-in-Bay.  The Jet Express Sandusky Run stops at Kelleys Island or the Sonny S. departs the Boardwalk dock to Middle Bass Island.

There is no bridge to South Bass Island (Put-in-Bay, Ohio), but it is not difficult to cross to the Lake Erie Islands.  You can arrive on one of the two ferryboat lines, fly with Griffing Flying Service or Dairy Air on a small commercial aircraft or arrive in your own personal boat or plane.  The Miller Boat Line (passenger & vehicle ferry) departs from Catawba Point and arrives at the southern end of the island.  The Jet Express (passenger only ferry) departs from Port Clinton or Sandusky and arrives in downtown Put-in-Bay.  The Put-in-Bay Airport is located on the southeast side of the island.  There are numerous taxi services available in the summer and will take you anywhere on the island for $3 per person.  The Taxis normally wait at each ferry dock to meet each boat.  If you fly in, you can ask for assistance in calling for cab service.
